Mountain climbing !!!!!!

Sub zero temperatures

sunny -1 °C

What else would you do on a beautiful sunny day in the Swiss Alps, in a pretty town called Zermatt ????
Climb a mountain or should I say catch a ride up next to it - the well known Matterhorn is its name.

One of my favourite places in my world of travels, so this time I shared it with Rori & Bill.

We had to travel by small gondolas & then larger cable cars

Vienna - best day ever !!!!

Taking a break from churches & historical sites

A fantastic day spent taking a well deserved rest from the usual sight seeing itinerary. Vienna zoo, the oldest zoo in Europe. It is part of the huge Royal Palace grounds. The Royal family had their own private menagerie & the current zoo is built around the old sections/ cages to show how it used to be for the animals. It was a fantastic day, seeing all types of animals from around the world. Including a koala & wallaby - a bit funny heh. Our most favourite were the giant pandas & polar bears, who both had 1 y.o. babies - cutest as can be.
Will post more pics later but had to share this one.

strange little town....

overcast 16 °C

A strange little town called Nordlingen built on a meteor crater about 500 years ago. Surrounded by a wall that protected the whole city for centuries.

Amsterdam

sunny

Amsterdam .....Tuesday 26/8/14 ...arrived late afternoon from Ghent in Belgium, & found our way to a parking station at the 1928 Olympic Stadium, as a car is unnecessary in Amsterdam - bikes rule !!!!!
Really dangerous city for pedestrians, as push bikes really do own the place - roads, footpaths & bike paths, actually everywhere & anywhere at anytime & all times. Bikes are the main mode of transport in the city as there are so many canals & narrow streets - so makes sense but unusual for us foreigners.
We all loved Amsterdam, the people, the place & the things we saw & did, we're all fantastic. We did a 75 min canal boat tour with a very entertaining & knowledgable Dutchman, Peter. The best way to see Amsterdam !!!!!
We then covered the rest on foot & tram, so much fun.
We visited the Anne Frank House - so fascinating & another amazing learning experience. At least some things have benefited from the tourist industry - they have done an amazing job in preserving history & telling the " story".
One of the most fun (educational) days was spent at the Nemo Science Centre.
One of our highlight cities so far.

science experiments

Keeping up with school work !!!!

overcast 20 °C

In Amsterdam, Holland, doing science experiments at the Nemo Science Centre -similar to Questacon in Canberra. We thought we would spend a couple of hours there & ended up leaving after 4 hrs !!!!!! It was so much fun. Having a great time, the only danger here is dodging the 1000's of push bikes. It is the general mode of transport.image
